The Taproom General Manager at Insight is responsible for end-to-end management of the taproom to ensure we continue to meet and exceed customer expectations. We’re looking for a strong leader who shares our unwavering commitment to the customer experience and who will use their creative vision and creativity to help take our taproom to the next level.

Job Description: The Taproom is a key part of our success as it will likely be the first experience consumers have with our brand. The Taproom General Manager is responsible for making the Taproom experience nothing short of exceptional. The Taproom General Manager’s primary role is to keep the Taproom running as smoothly and efficiently at all times by setting and enforcing customer service standards among staff, taking care of all general administrative, organizational and accounting duties, as well as ensuring and monitoring product quality.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

General Operations

  • Create and communicate beertender schedules
  • Manage and schedule Food Trucks to ensure a truck is on site as often as possible
  • Find efficiencies whenever possible in all areas to seek continuous improvement
  • Ensure all shifts are covered. May need to work long hours in order to compensate for team member issues that may arise.
  • Update information with Micros, Excel, and Google. Become extremely knowledgeable of Micros.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to Assistant Taproom Manager

Front-of-House Work & Customer Service

  • Ensure each beertender is providing exceptional customer service to all Taproom Patrons
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all Taproom products; beer & soda
  • Manage and monitor beertending team
  • Resolve customer complaints about service, etc.
  • Ensure taproom is kept clean and presentable
  • Ensure appropriate ambiance (music, volume levels, lighting, etc.)
  • Ensure beertenders are pouring beer properly and in the correct glassware
  • Manage table reservations

Staff Recruitment & Team Development

  • Seek out new beertending staff (when needed) who have an interest in craft beer (work with HR)
  • Put together a Taproom Beertending Training Manual that will be used to train all new staff
  • Maintain a positive and friendly work environment for all Taproom employees
  • Conduct team building meetings where employees are given ongoing service/beer training
  • Encourage leadership and Insight’s Core Values
  • Maintain regular communication with staff
  • Hold staff accountable to expectations and discipline if necessary
  • Conduct regular staff meetings
  • Reward and recognize strong performance by staff

Taproom Marketing & Events Management

  • Work with the Marketing Manager to come up with events and promotions that will bring in new customers and increase Taproom revenue
  • Maintain Taproom marketing materials (posters, table tents) and make sure beertenders are aware of all current promotions and events
  • Work with Events Coordinator to set up and staff all Taproom Events
  • Keep website updated with current list of beers on tap
  • Management of the Online Store (website maintenance, order processing, fulfillment)

Stock Control & Taproom Organization/Maintenance

  • Ensure that inventory tracking, as well as opening and closing procedures, are being completed daily
  • Monitor inventory and order all necessary Taproom and Swag supplies in a timely manner, maintain par levels
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the bar and storage areas
  • Arrange for maintenance and repair of equipment and other services as needed
  • Track beer inventory

Safety Management

  • Set and maintain standards for beer presentation
  • Monitor beer pouring to limit excess waste
  • Ensure drinking on the job policy is being followed
  • Manager the maintenance and organization of the bar and taproom areas

Strategic & Accounting Management

  • Keep daily record of all expenses and Taproom Sales
  • Provide weekly Taproom sales reports to the General Manager
  • Manage to an expense budget
  • Make bank deposits
  • Maximize staff efficiency to reduce labor costs
  • Identify creative opportunities to improve customer experience (entertainment, decor, promotions, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Complete payroll accurately and on time
  • Run sales and labor reports to gain a solid understanding of the business
